How to Program a 6 Lens Scan Laser: Simple Lesson!
I completely understand why soooo many do not like to program DMX lighting. The variables are endless and your limited to your imagination. I can appreciate the possibilities but unless you have the patience of Job in the Bible, this illogical order of steps would make anyone nuts after an hour of programming DMX for a gig.
Your videos are always so clean and straight to the point!! Another great demonstration 👍
Thank you! Still relevant in 2024!
Good Morning wich Budget moving heads can you please recommand to a mobile dj
Hi- these smaller movers have been working well for me: ruclips.net/video/fR0JBQygxdo/видео.html Thanks for watching!
@@LearnLizard thanks for your help and Videos . Those are always be the start point for dj‘s
nice but why the moovements channel are not in the first places? this is confusing
Yeah, it seems every manufacturer puts their DMX channels in a different order. 😖 It would make it much easier to set up fixtures if there was more of a standard.
So basically I can have on my overhead truss one wireless receiver in fixture #1 and then daisy chain the others on the truss and be able to control them with the different addresses I have to them? The wireless dmx still transmits the “full spectrum” of commands and the independent fixtures respond accordingly?
Yes, that's exactly right. I use one receiver for each "location" (stage right, left, etc.) and daisy chain all the lights together in each location. Appreciate you watching!
@@LearnLizard thank you very much! I am new to DMX and I am using it in a live band situation with the MaestroDMX controller. I play drums so I needed something hands free to give us a decent light show. Now that I know I can go wireless for my front washes and up to my overhead truss this will be a game changer and not have to drag out DMX cords everywhere!! AGAIN A GIGANTIC THANK YOU!!!!
I use the obey 40, one question sending midi command notes works for all the events untill you use notes 120 to 125 ( the chase commands 1 to 6). The selected chase sticks to the first scene loaded, the chases only work if you press the "auto" button. This is of no use when controlling the unit remotely in the first place. I note some other controllers have a dedicated midi command for the auto button function. Is there a way to fix this ?
I agree it's of little use if you have to press "auto" for chases. Unfortunately I'm not aware of any workarounds.
Very cool as always ! Thanks for sharing !
I appreciate you watching!!
BRILLIANT, Great video Steve. watching from Western Australia
Really appreciate the kind words and thanks so much for watching this one!
Your linked price is ridicules. I got my self 4pcs with 2pcs 2in1 flight-cases with sipping and tax for total of 1450USD ;)
Wow! Thats fantastic. Please tell us where??!!
@@LearnLizard I placed a well structured RFQ at Alibaba, most were around 1.7-2k but 2 were quite low, so I placed the order and they arrive just a few weeks ago, so far the are perfect :)
Your backkk!!!! I love your videos
Thank you for watching this one!
3 prism?
Very good tutorial. I need to repeat this when i buy the dmx in the near future. So far i got 2 static and 2 moving head light.
Thanks for the kind words and good luck programming your light show!
How to control, so it's not moving around. I mean moving up and down, left and right but not at backward, thanks
If you are running these in the auto functions you can't edit or change any of the pan or tilt parameters unfortunately. You need to use DMX to get that level of control.
@@LearnLizard ok i get it. im buying the dmx controller soon. thanks
I was buy 2 and so far, I'm learning how to control manually because i don't have dmx controller yet
You will be able to do a lot more with these when you get your DMX controller.
Can you please do a video showing all the lights
Someone else mentioned the same thing, so maybe I will give that a try in the future.
Can you please do a video about Grand ma 3 or 2
I would love to do a grandMA video if I only had a grandMA controller 🙏
This great Thank you I have so much to learn and so little time I m creating something that will be amazing
I'm glad this was helpful and good luck with your amazing shows!!
Great job Steve. Another great video. What kind of haze machine do you use? Also, I have seen other videos where people are making their own haze liquid with distilled water and vegetable glycogen. Do you or have you made your own haze fluid? Thanks again!
I'm using a Chauvet Hurricane Haze 2D (I have 2 of them) Here's a closer look at it in this video: ruclips.net/video/UiDafzU4P_g/видео.html Both haze and smoke machines can be pretty finicky when it comes to filters and pumps clogging so I have been very reluctant to use anything other than "official" Chauvet Haze solution. That said, there are lots of DIY videos for fog/haze machines and solutions and there are probably some good options. Would love to hear about what you come up with.
I currently have an old etc board connected to several showbaby devices for my lights. Could I connect the showbaby transmitter to the dmx/ethernet converter and continue that way or do I need to find another way to have my dmx connected?
I'm not that familiar with SHoW Baby products but most of these turnkey solutions are setup to work as a closed proprietary system. Unfortunately I don't believe it will work with the dmx/ethernet interface in this video.
Hi Steve, another great video. I have a couple of questions though. How did you set up this fixture in Vibrio? I am guessing you had to create a new fixture, so what type of fixture did you pick? And, how did you add the attributes in Vibrio? I don’t see the choices you have setup when I select all. I really love your channel and videos. Is there any chance you could make a video on how to setup some of these Shehed fixtures in Vibrio? Thanks!
Hi and thanks for the kind words. Setting up a new fixture in Vibrio is fairly easy. I start off making a new show as each show can have its own fixtures. Then I click the fixtures icon and the the "+" at the bottom of the pane. Then I select "create new" enter the starting address I want at the top of the page (You might want to leave that as 1) Then hit the "+" and create the first channel by picking a category (color, beam, etc.) and then name. (red, green, etc.) It doesn't really matter what you pick, its just to help label the channels so you know what you are picking. Keep adding channels until it matches the number of channels on your fixture. If a particular channel doesn't seem to be working correctly you can try turning the fader icon to the right of the name on or off. That's actually all there is to it. Good luck and thanks for watching!
Looks like it's not available anywhere anymore.... sad. Cool little product.
Its too bad there are not more lights with UV. I truly love the black lights effects. Thanks for watching!
Great videos! I am a new subscriber and bought Vibrio from watching your videos. I like the app very much, but think I have a lot more to learn. I just bought 2 of the shehed 275W moving head lights similar to this light only bigger with more functions. I am having a little trouble getting the fixtures set up in Vibrio. I selected color wheel but can’t seem to get colors to change. In fact I didn’t see some of the functions by channel available in vibrio. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks again for all your great content!
Again, I've also been looking at this light. Thank you for the channel walk-through.
Glad it was helpful and I appreciate you watching this one.
I've been considering these lights, but couldn't find a decent review that covered more than unboxing, menus, and auto mode. Your walk-thru of each change with coresponding action views is exactly what I was looking for. Thus, I am subscribing to your channel hoping for more reviews like this that are actually useful!
Appreciate those kind words and thanks for the sub!
Hi Steve, thanks for the reply. I had a cheap DMX Controller, but couldn't get it to work , so have bought a Chauvet 40 DJ, However I still can't get the Lights to work and any advice would be helpful. I'm not sure if the Lights are set properly and don't know how to set them. I set the first light to D001, and the I.P 01. after that I'm stumped as what to do. Fader 1 will bring all the lights on when it is about half way up, but the other faders 2,3,4 don't doo anything at all. Here's hoping you can help, Cheers, Kevin. P.S From what I can make out, the colours are RGBW and ?uv. the other settings on the light LED are A1,2,3,4,5 and the if any of those are pressed other digits come up. Hope this makes sense to you, it's all Alien to me, once again thanks for the Support.
Good Day, how I do connect Moving head with parcan light and laser light on a Dmx 512 using a buffer or say a splitter. Thank You
How do you change the Pan/Tilt speed as mine move really fast. Have looked at the instructions but cannot find anything
Hi- My manual says that DMX channel 14 controls the pan & tilt speed, but it actually calls up different preset patterns. Your's might pre programmed the same way from the factory which means no pan/titlt speed unfortunately.
DMX Channel 14 is supposed to control Pan/Tilt speed (according to the manual) but on mine instaed it lets you choose preprogrammed patterns. Yours may have the same firmware in which case there is probably no way to change P/T speed unfortunately.
The concepts are simple, but some of the buttons to control each, in the programming, are a bit counterintuitive. Such as, for instance, fixture 2 beginning with channel 17. How do we know? How do we know what to set the second fixture on? Going in and out of program and creating a chase seems a bit hard to control, and I can't see what buttons he's hitting each time. More importantly, what if we have a controller with fewer channels than the lights? For instance, I know a group with an Obey 3, but the lights use 4 channels. They don't want to necessarily have RGB on separate channels; if anything, they'd like to program just ONE slider to be RBG total luminance, not levels for each R, G, and B. Is this possible? And then leave another slider to control another light? And what if you set the light fixtures to the same number? Will they behave like the same lights? I understand what he's doing, in general, but so many questions remain.
Its actually a harder to grasp concept than one might think. This controller is set up to have 16 channels per fixture if you need them, but you only use what you need) So for example if your 1st fixture is a simple light with 6 DMX channels, the controller would have 10 extra channels left over. If your second light has 14 channels, there would be 2 channels left over. That's why each fixture on the controller is set in 16 channel increments. Hope that helps and appreciate you watching.
@@LearnLizard Thanks. I actually understand what you're saying quite well, and can envision the blocks of numbers, say, if you had 17 for one, 6 for another, etc... .but little things like how you tell the controller that fixture 1 is 17, that fixture 2 is 6, etc etc, is more difficult. What keys tells the controller that? And how do we move to numbers beyond what the sliders can designate, etc. I was going to ask how we know the # of channels each fixture takes, but I see it's either in the manual, or some can be set to different channel modes. It's the specifics of the various controls which seem a bit counterintuitive, so far, and which I need to learn.
Hi Steve, I've only just started using a dmx Controller. Is it possible to use different types of light together at the same time? For Example Par cans, Moving heads and what I call disco ball Lights together at the same time/
Yes, absolutely. You can combine any different DMX lights you want. Connect the first light to the controller and then daisy chain the additional lights together. To make it the easiest to program, you should have each light set to have its own unique DMX starting address. Here's a video that helps explain: ruclips.net/video/nVbVl4s_pQ4/видео.html
Clear english and clear instructions❤

Very clear teaching technique❤
Thank you for those kind words and I appreciate you watching!
Tulle trick looks cool but I'm still wary about using it to project in front of performers. It doesn't take long to burn a hole in a retina with a laser powerful enough to light up a stage.
True enough but if the laser is side projected away from the performers it is a way to minimize risk. That said, lasers like this need to be treated with great care! Appreciate you watching.
Thanks so much! Have two laser cube pros and was wondering how to do this. LOVE your videos. Is there a way to use ILDA to run laser from a separate software. We have pangolin quickshow and beyond with fb3 and FB4’s for our large lasers. A tutorial on how to hook to ILDA and get a 3rd party software would be great! I can find anything in the manual that came with them about ILDA hookup. Thanks so much and please continue the great content.
Thanks for your kind words. 🙂 As the LaserCube Pro and Ultra both have ILDA ports you can run them with any compatible software. I have plans to do a video on Pangolin Quickshow but just haven’t gotten to it yet. There are also several third party software apps that work with any LaserCubes’s ethernet connection such as LaserShowGen, Modulaser, Maxwell Synth, etc. Appreciate you watching!
Please do a lightshow with all your lights

Por que despues de un par de horas encendido se detiene? Y solo parpadea las luces
Muchas luces tienen temporizadores y/o controles de temperatura incorporados que apagarán la luz para evitar que los motores o las luces se quemen.
Just came across this after searching for drum triggers for LED lights. I see that Midipipe is no longer available on App store. Do you happen to know the link to the alternate app?
So how do you control this unit? Remote?
You can set a few of the auto functions by going into the menu controls but the best way is with a DMX controller.
Same problem with a fp4, but the connector it’s very stable. The dc adapter works, i tried replacing it and using it with another keyboard, still trying to fix it..
Good luck and hope you get it working
Hey Steve. Great video! I have 4 of these lights and they are very good. Is it possible to control them via a DMX controller staying on 1 color in sound activation mode? I wish to create front and back washes with Betopper par cans and have the moving head color match/compliment the wash. For live music the random color changing is a little erratic. Appreciate if you can help. Thank you :)
Hi- This is definitely a question that comes up a lot. Unfortunately, the built in sound and auto functions on little lights like these are completely separate from the DMX functions where you would set the colors. That being said, lots of controllers (even simple ones) have built in sound active functions so your best bet is to program your scenes and then try triggering them with the controller’s sound active functions. Good luck and thanks for watching!
Can you set up 4 moving heads in different brand and can move together in same direction with dmx controller?
Yes, you can definitely set up lights from different brands but chances are that the DMX channels will be different on each light. So to get them to move together you would have to individually program each one in a chase made from scenes where the pan and tilt positions were matched. Hope that helps and thanks for watching.
Unbelievably helpful- thank you!
Glad it was helpful! (and thanks for watching)
Thank you for watching!
How well does a light duty dress like you’re using handle moving headlights like this? Would you trust it to use slightly larger or more?
This truss is actually quite sturdy. I’ve had up to 8 lights lights like these with no problems. Here’s a video on a few different ways to mount smaller lights: ruclips.net/video/CaeAaZdbpCU/видео.html
@@LearnLizard thank you for the information, love your videos!
Can you confirm you email id?
Great video thank you! Do you know if there is anyway to use DMX Scenes to control a MIDI controller?
Wow, that’s a really interesting question. Definitely not something that is commonly done, but I did find this box that says it can do it: response-box.com/gear/decabox-dmx-to-midi/ Thanks for the kind words and I appreciate you watching!
